The Crown Chakra
Crown Chakra:
- Sanskrit Name: Sahasrara
- Color: Violet/White
- Element: Thought
- Sense: Universal Knowing
- Location: Crown of the head
The crown chakra is depicted as the most beautiful and elaborate of all the chakras. This energy center is represented as a lotus flower with 1,000 petals. It is located at the center of the head, a few centimeters above the cerebral cortex. The middle of the lotus flower contains a circular shape representing the moon and a luminous inverted triangle. As the crown chakra awakens and receives more energy, it begins to unfold and bloom into this radiant violet/white lotus flower with 20 layers of petals, each containing 50 differently colored petals.
When this chakra is fully open and aligned, it opens a gateway – a direct line to the divine. We feel connected and recognize the truth of our own divinity and power. This chakra enables us to see the beauty in all things. No matter if all other chakras are open and balanced, if the crown is blocked, we cannot fully experience the magic a fully lived life offers.
As the last of the seven major chakras, this energy center represents unity, oneness, divinity, connection, and enlightenment. When this chakra is fully awakened, it can bring a profound shift in how we perceive reality. We may feel as if we’ve lived our entire life in black and white, and now we are allowed to live in color.
Things become more vibrant, more connected, and more divine. We may have caught glimpses of these transcendent states before, but when the crown remains open, we know we can fully inhabit this new reality.
